CyberAlberta Compliance Assessment and Benchmarking Tool

The CyberAlberta Compliance Framework Assessment and Benchmarking Tool will help Alberta organizations understand their current cybersecurity posture and strengthen their cyber resilience.

This fillable PDF allows organizations to document their cybersecurity status and track progress over time.

The framework is built around six core cybersecurity functions defined by the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST): Govern, Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover. Each goal is informed by guidance from the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security and tailored to Alberta’s unique privacy and cybersecurity landscape.

By using this tool, your organization not only gains insight into its own cybersecurity posture — it also contributes to a province-wide snapshot of cyber readiness.

Why Your Participation Matters: A Provincial Snapshot

When you hit the submit button at the end of the assessment, your organization contributes to a broader provincial initiative to build cybersecurity benchmarks across Alberta.

This anonymized data will help create a snapshot of cyber readiness across the province — informing future strategies and strengthening Alberta’s overall cyber resilience.

How to Participate

When you click the submit button built into the PDF, your completed assessment will be sent directly and anonymously to [email protected].

Please note: we ask that each organization submits only one completed form. We encourage organizations to send the form using their organization email address.

CyberAlberta has opened a 4-week submission period ending November 28th. Submitted responses during this time will help us provide a report to Community of Interest members by early 2026.

We Value your Privacy

Your organization’s anonymity is fully protected, because we don't collect specific organizational identifiers like the name of your organization. Participation is voluntary, and all submitted data will be used in anonymized, aggregated formats to help gauge Alberta’s overall cybersecurity snapshot.

CyberAlberta will treat all submitted emails as transitory records, retained only for the duration necessary to process the submission. After that, the email, and email address will be deleted.

How Benchmarking Data Is Used

The CyberAlberta Compliance Framework Assessment includes 35 cyber readiness goals across six core cybersecurity functions. When your organization completes the assessment, your anonymous responses to these goals form the foundation of Alberta’s cybersecurity snapshot.

To support meaningful analysis, the assessment also includes a short section that helps us categorize your organization. This includes:

  • Industry sector
  • Number of staff
  • Region (North, Central, South)
  • Organization type (Public or Private Sector)

This information allows CyberAlberta to group responses and identify trends across sectors, sizes, and regions. These insights help CyberAlberta:

  • Better understand the cybersecurity needs of the province
  • Inform funding priorities
  • Identify threats at both organizational and provincial levels
  • Build long-term provincial cyber resilience
